Suwon Hwaseong Fortress — A King’s Vision in Stone

Walk along the magnificent walls of UNESCO-listed Hwaseong Fortress, one of Korea’s most remarkable historical landmarks.

Built in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty, the fortress reflected his vision of a strong, well-planned city and his devotion to his father. Its impressive gates, watchtowers, defensive structures, and sweeping walls reveal the ingenuity and ambition behind this extraordinary royal project.

As you explore the fortress, imagine soldiers guarding the city, royal processions passing through its gates, and life unfolding within its historic walls. Capture memorable photographs of traditional Korean architecture set against the surrounding landscape.

This is more than a sightseeing stop—it is an opportunity to discover the ideas, ambitions, and stories that shaped an important chapter of Korean history.

Korean Folk Village — Step into Traditional Korean Life

Explore Joseon-era homes, the magistrate’s office and village traditions: thatched farmhouses, tiled-roof hanok, earthenware jar terraces and seasonal scenery reveal different sides of everyday Korean life.

Performances and seasonal events depend on the venue schedule and weather. Photos of fan dance, farmer’s music and night lighting are examples, not a promise that they will be part of your visit.

    Korean Folk Village

Spend the morning in a living Joseon-era village: thatched farmhouses and the homes of yangban nobles, craft workshops, a traditional market street and, depending on the day, farmer's music, tightrope walking or equestrian performances.
