What was life like in Korea centuries ago? How did kings defend their cities, and how did ordinary people live, work, celebrate, and preserve their traditions?
Discover the answers on this private heritage tour to Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and the Korean Folk Village. Travel beyond the modern skyline of Seoul and step into a world of royal history, impressive architecture, traditional homes, and timeless Korean culture.
With private transportation and a flexible itinerary, you can explore at your own pace, enjoy meaningful moments with your family, and experience a different side of Korea—without the pressure of a rigid group schedule.
Your Journey Through Korea’s Living History

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress — A King’s Vision in Stone
Walk along the magnificent walls of UNESCO-listed Hwaseong Fortress, one of Korea’s most remarkable historical landmarks.
Built in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty, the fortress reflected his vision of a strong, well-planned city and his devotion to his father. Its impressive gates, watchtowers, defensive structures, and sweeping walls reveal the ingenuity and ambition behind this extraordinary royal project.
As you explore the fortress, imagine soldiers guarding the city, royal processions passing through its gates, and life unfolding within its historic walls. Capture memorable photographs of traditional Korean architecture set against the surrounding landscape.
This is more than a sightseeing stop—it is an opportunity to discover the ideas, ambitions, and stories that shaped an important chapter of Korean history.
Korean Folk Village — Step into Traditional Korean Life
Explore Joseon-era homes, the magistrate’s office and village traditions: thatched farmhouses, tiled-roof hanok, earthenware jar terraces and seasonal scenery reveal different sides of everyday Korean life.
Performances and seasonal events depend on the venue schedule and weather. Photos of fan dance, farmer’s music and night lighting are examples, not a promise that they will be part of your visit.

Korean Folk Village
Step into Everyday Life in the Joseon Dynasty
Walk through history, discover traditional Korean life, and experience the spirit of a bygone era.

Leave the modern world behind as you explore the Korean Folk Village in Yongin, a captivating cultural destination that brings the world of the Joseon Dynasty to life.
Wander along traditional village paths lined with tiled-roof hanok houses and humble thatched-roof homes. Look into historic living spaces, discover traditional household objects, and imagine how Korean families lived, worked, and celebrated centuries ago.

The experience goes beyond architecture. Depending on the day's schedule, you may also enjoy traditional music and dance, folk performances, seasonal customs, and cultural activities that reveal the richness of Korea's living heritage.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, a K-drama fan, or a family exploring Korea together, the Korean Folk Village offers a memorable way to connect with the country’s traditions in an engaging and accessible setting.

يومكم، ساعة بساعة
- 08:00
Seoul hotel pickup & drive to Yongin
Meet your driver at your Seoul hotel and head south in a private van. Departure time is adjusted to your family's rhythm, and a comfort stop can be added on the way.
- 09:30

Korean Folk Village
Spend the morning in a living Joseon-era village: thatched farmhouses and the homes of yangban nobles, craft workshops, a traditional market street and, depending on the day, farmer's music, tightrope walking or equestrian performances. Children love the hands-on corners; adults enjoy the architecture and seasonal scenery.
- 12:00

Lunch at the folk village
Eat inside the village where Joseon-era specialities are still made — from bindaetteok pancakes to green-tea desserts — or ask us to arrange a quieter restaurant nearby. Dietary preferences can be discussed before the tour.
- 13:30

Hwaseong Fortress — Jangnyemun Gate
Arrive in Suwon and begin at Jangnyemun, the great northern gate of the UNESCO-listed fortress. Watch the archer's platform and the sweeping stone walls beneath one of the finest examples of 18th-century military architecture in Korea.
- 14:30

Wall walk & Dongbuk Gangnu pavilion
Follow the fortress wall along its curved ramparts to the Dongbuk Gangnu and its arrow-shaped observation posts, with the lotus pond and the city skyline beyond. The route is gentle and can be shortened or swapped for a driver-led detour for anyone who prefers not to climb.
- 16:00

Optional Flying Suwon balloon ride
Beside the fortress, a tethered helium balloon rises above the walls for a bird's-eye view of the whole World Heritage site — the most memorable photo of the day. Rides run in calm weather and tickets are paid on site; your driver waits while you fly.
- 17:30

Historic hanok café street
Wander the café lanes just outside the fortress, where renovated hanok and wooden houses now hold coffee roasters and dessert shops. Settle onto a rooftop with tea and watch the fortress walls catch the evening light.
- 18:30

Fortress at dusk
Return to the walls as the lanterns come on. Seonam Ammun and the water gate glow under floodlights, and the pavilion courtyard fills with locals enjoying the evening — a quieter, warmer side of the fortress than the daytime crowds.
- 19:30

Tongdak Geori fried chicken street & return to Seoul
Finish at Suwon's famous fried chicken street, where the original whole-chicken houses have drawn queues for decades. Pick up dinner to eat in the car or take home, then relax on the drive back to your Seoul hotel — arrival is usually around 21:00, depending on traffic.
