Royal Guard-Changing Ceremony
We time arrival at Heungnyemun gate for the 10:00 or 14:00 ceremony and stand where the drums, flags and costumes photograph best.

The pavilion on the water
Gyeonghoeru was where Joseon kings hosted state banquets, raised on 48 stone pillars above an artificial lake. On a still morning the whole pavilion doubles in the water — our guides know the exact bench and angle for it, and it is the quietest corner of the palace for grandparents to rest while the kids run the lakeside path.
